1. Who we are
Wigle is run by Cool Shit LLP. Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, we are the Data Fiduciary for your personal data the organisation that decides what happens to it and answers for it.
Cool Shit LLP LLPIN: ACV-7595 · GSTIN: 06AAWFC2804L1Z5 5th Floor, Tower C, Unitech Cyber Park, Sector 39, Gurugram, Haryana – 122003 support@wigle.in
Wigle is available only in India. We are not established in, and do not offer our service to, people in the European Union, the United Kingdom or the United States. The GDPR, UK GDPR and US state privacy laws do not apply to us. If that changes, we'll publish a policy meeting those requirements before we launch there.
2. Where this policy applies
This covers the Wigle app, www.wigle.in, and anything else we operate under the Wigle name. We call all of it the service.
Some words we use throughout:
- A Plan is a public event someone else is putting on a concert, a match, a festival. We list it so you can find it.
- An Experience is a group of Members going to a Plan together.
- A Leader is the Member who created an Experience.
- An Attendee is someone the Leader has accepted into it.
- A Friend is a member you have a mutual connection with, which is what lets you message privately.
If we ever launch something needing its own privacy policy, we'll give you that policy and it will apply instead.
3. What we collect
3.1 Things you give us
| What it is | |
|---|---|
| Account data | Your mobile number, email address, name and date of birth. The date of birth is how we confirm you're 18 or over |
| Profile data | Your photographs, bio, interests and anything else you put on your profile. At least one photo showing your face is required. Anything sensitive you choose to put on a public profile your religion, your politics, your health you are choosing to publish |
| Your content | Posts, comments, photos and videos you upload |
| Messages | What you send in Experience group chats and in private chats with Friends |
| Plans and Experiences | The Experiences you create, join, save or attend, and the Plans you're interested in |
| Reports and support | What you tell us when you report someone or contact support, including screenshots and message history you send us |
| Sign-in data from Google or Apple | If you sign in that way, they pass us your name, email and a stable identifier |
3.2 Things we collect automatically
| What it is | |
|---|---|
| Location | Your device's location, only while the app is open, and only if you allow it. Other Members see an approximate distance, not your coordinates |
| Usage data | What you open, search, join, save and skip; when you log in; how long you stay |
| Device data | Device model, operating system, language, timezone, network, and identifiers that distinguish your device |
| Logs | IP address, timestamps, error records |
| Crash data | What the app was doing when it broke |
3.3 What we don't collect
We do not currently collect your contacts, SMS, call logs, calendar, health data, biometric or face data, or government ID. We do not process payments, so we hold no card or UPI details.
We do not verify who you are. We check that you control a working mobile number. That's the extent of it please treat every Member as someone you haven't met.
4. Why we use it
| What we do | Why |
|---|---|
| Create and run your account; show your profile; deliver your messages; let you create and join Experiences | To give you the service you asked for |
| Show you the right Plans, Experiences and people ranking and personalising what you see using your location, your activity, your interests, and patterns across similar Members | Personalised discovery is the service. Section 6 explains exactly how |
| Confirm you are 18 or over | We are an adults-only service |
| Investigate reports; detect fake accounts, scams, harassment and child safety risks; enforce our Terms | To keep people safe. This is the one thing we'll process even when it's inconvenient |
| Send you service messages someone joined your Experience, someone messaged you, a security alert | Part of running the service |
| Fix bugs, understand what's broken, improve the app | So, it works |
| Send you product emails and updates | Optional, off by default. Settings > Privacy > Consent & preferences |
| Respond to courts, police and regulators; keep the records the IT Rules require | Because we have to |
We do not make automated decisions about you that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
4.1 Advertising and sponsorship
Wigle does not carry advertising. We do not share your personal data with advertisers or advertising networks, and we do not sell it.
We may feature sponsored or partner content in future a Plan a promoter has paid to highlight, or a venue partnership. Anything of that kind will be clearly labelled.
If we start using your personal data to decide what promotional content you see, we will tell you and ask for your consent before we do.
5. Who we share it with
5.1 Other Members
You share data with other Members when you put it on Wigle. Your profile, your photos and your content are visible to the people you've chosen to be visible to. Members near you see an approximate distance, never your coordinates.
If someone reports you, or you report someone, we may tell the person who reported what we decided never who made the report.
5.2 Companies that work for us
We use outside services to run Wigle. They work for us, on our instructions.
| What they do | What they get |
|---|---|
| Hosting and storage | Everything, encrypted |
| Product analytics | What you tap, which screens you see, when you log in, device and app version, an identifier for your account |
| Crash and error monitoring | Device, app version and error traces |
| Content safety | Images and text you upload, screened for child sexual abuse material, nudity and scams |
| Sending messages | Your mobile number or email, to deliver login codes and notifications |
| Support tools | What you send us when you contact support or file a report |
| Payment processing (only once paid features exist) | A transaction reference and status |
Each of them is contractually required to use your data only for the service they provide us, keep it secure and confidential, not share it onward, and delete it when we stop working with them as Section 8 of the DPDP Act requires.
We limit what our analytics and monitoring tools receive to what they need to tell us how the app is performing.
5.3 Everyone else
| Who | What | When |
|---|---|---|
| Police, courts, regulators | Whatever a valid legal order requires | Because we must. We don't hand over data on an informal request |
| A buyer of the business | Data assets | If Cool Shit LLP is sold or restructured. We'll tell you |
Not on that list: advertisers, data brokers, people-search services, or anyone wanting to market to you.
5.4 Who exactly
The companies we work with change. Under Section 11 of the DPDP Act you can ask us who we've shared your data with and what we shared. Email support@wigle.in and we'll tell you within 30 days.
If we begin a new kind of processing or start using your data for a new purpose, we'll tell you before we do and where the law requires fresh consent, we'll ask rather than assume.
6. How we decide what to show you
Wigle is a personalised service. Finding you the right Plans and the right people is what the app is for.
6.1 What we use
| Signal | What it means |
|---|---|
| Where you are | Distance from you. We rank things you could actually get to |
| When things happen | What's on soon, and when you tend to go out |
| What you do on Wigle | Experiences you open, join, save, skip or leave. Plans you look at. What you search for |
| What you told us | The interests and preferences on your profile |
| Who else is going | How full an Experience is, how fast it filled, whether Friends are attending |
| People like you | Broad patterns across Members whose activity resembles yours |
We use machine learning to weigh these, and the models change as we learn what works. We may add or change signals as we improve the service.
We use aggregated and pseudonymised activity to test and improve how recommendations work.
6.2 How to steer it
| Control | Effect |
|---|---|
| Not interested | Tell us an Experience isn't for you and we'll show you less like it |
| Edit your interests | Profile→ Edit Profile |
| Search and filters | Override the ranking and look for what you want |
| Location off | Revoke location permission and browse by choosing a city instead |
| Block | Experiences led by a blocked Member no longer appear in your recommendations. You can't see their profile or photos, and they can't see yours. They can't message you directly |
| Delete your account | Stops everything |
Blocking works one-to-one. If you're both in the same Experience, they can still attend and you'll still see their messages in the group chat, because a group conversation is shared by everyone in it. If you don't want that, leave the Experience or report them, so we can act on the account rather than just hide it.
6.3 What recommendations don't decide
Recommendations decide what order you see things in. They don't decide whether you may use Wigle, whether you may join an Experience, or what anything costs.
A Leader decides who joins their Experience. We don't make that decision for them.
7. Where your data lives
In India. Our databases, file storage and backups are in Indian cloud regions.
Some of the services in Section 5.2 particularly analytics, crash monitoring and content safety operate outside India. Where a service offers Indian or regional data residency, we choose it. Where it doesn't, we send the minimum necessary, and only to countries not restricted by the Central Government under Section 16 of the DPDP Act.
8. Your rights
| Right | What it means | How |
|---|---|---|
| Correction | Fix anything wrong or incomplete | Settings → Edit Profile. For date of birth, email support@wigle.in we check those by hand, because your date of birth is what keeps this an adults-only service |
| Erasure | Delete your account and your data | Settings → Account → Delete Account, or www.wigle.in/delete-account |
| Withdraw consent | Change your mind about anything optional | Settings → Privacy → Consent & preferences |
| Nominate | Name someone to exercise your rights if you die or can't act for yourself. This right is specific to Indian law | Email support@wigle.in with their name and contact details. We'll add this to the app |
| Complain | Raise a grievance and get a reasoned answer | Settings → Safety & Help → Contact Grievance Officer |
We respond within 30 days. There's no charge.
We'll check who you are first. A summary of your account where you've been, who you've talked to, what you look like is exactly what someone who wanted to hurt you would ask for. So we verify before we answer, and we're sorry when that's inconvenient.
We may refuse a request that's unlawful, that we can't authenticate, or that would expose someone else's data. We'll tell you why. If you want your messages with another Member, they have to ask for those themselves.
You have duties too. The DPDP Act asks you to give accurate information, not to impersonate anyone, and not to file false or frivolous complaints.
Consent Managers. Indian law is introducing registered Consent Managers, which will let you manage consent across services from one place. We'll support this and update this policy when it's live.
Languages. Our consent notice is available in English.
9. How long we keep things
You can close your account whenever you like. Your profile disappears from the app immediately.
| What | How long |
|---|---|
| Account and profile | Deleted within 30 days of account deletion |
| Your posts and photos | Until you delete them, or 30 days after account deletion |
| Messages | 30 days after account deletion but the copy in the other person's inbox is theirs, and stays until they delete it. Same as email |
| Location | We keep only your most recent approximate location. Overwritten each time, deleted on account deletion |
| Backups | Purged within 90 days as backups age out |
| Usage and analytics | 24 months, pseudonymised |
| Logs and IP records | 180 days, as Rule 4(1)(g) of the IT Rules, 2021 requires |
| Records about someone removed for a safety violation | 180 days after removal, or longer if there's an investigation. We also keep a one-way hash of their contact details so they can't immediately re-register |
| Child safety reports | As long as the law and the receiving authority require |
| Grievance records | 3 years, for audit |
| Financial records, once payments exist | 8 years, under Indian tax law |
| Inactive accounts | Deleted after 24 months. We'll email you first |
After that it's permanently deleted or irreversibly anonymised.
10. People under 18
Wigle is 18+. We don't knowingly collect anything from anyone younger.
We check age at signup and, on Android, use the Google Play Age Signals API where required queried in real time, not stored.
If we find out a Member is under 18, we close the account and delete the data. If you think a Member is under 18, stop talking to them and report it support@wigle.in, or the child safety option in the app. We act within 24 hours.
We don't advertise to children, track children, or process children's data for profiling. More at www.wigle.in/child-safety.
11. Changes
This will change as Wigle changes. We'll tell you in the app and by email at least 7 days before anything material takes effect, and update the date at the top. Where the law requires fresh consent, we'll ask rather than assume.
